Both sizes pair a 4 mm cable housing with either a 5.0 mm or 5.5 mm brake hose.
Which size do I need?
Here's a baseline for which brake systems typically use each hose size. Older models and aftermarket brake hoses may differ, so we always recommend measuring your brake hose before ordering.

Hayes Dominion • Most Tektro • Many older TRP
TRP and Tektro use both sizes depending on model and generation. Trickstuff also offers some 6 mm hoses.

A Better solution
Most bikes still use a zip tie or plastic clip to keep the cables together. It works, but on a well finished build there is room to do it better.
DarkTide Billet Cable Clips snap directly around the cables with no hardware or tools. They hold everything securely, reduce cable rattle, can be removed and reused whenever you need and yeah, they look sick. Not to mention, ridden by Asa Vermette.

Choose 5.0 mm for standard 5 mm diameter brake hose or 5.5 mm for Hayes and other 5.5 mm diameter brake hose.
